Chapter 1: The Open Window

Daniel worked for the king in a great city. He was honest, wise, and kind to everyone. The king trusted him more than anyone else.

Three times each day, Daniel went to a quiet room. He knelt by a window that faced his faraway home. There he thanked God and asked for help. This story is inspired by Daniel, chapter 6.

Some men grew jealous of Daniel. They wanted to trap him, so they made a plan.

Chapter 2: The New Law

The jealous men spoke to the king with clever words. They said, "Make a new law. For thirty days, everyone must pray only to you."

The king felt proud, so he signed the law. Anyone who broke it would be thrown to the hungry lions.

Daniel heard the news, but he did not hide. He went home, and he opened his window as always. He knelt, and he prayed his honest prayer again.

Chapter 3: The Long Night

The jealous men had watched, and they ran to the king. The king was sad, but he could not change his own law.

So Daniel was placed near the lions in the dark. "May your God keep you safe," the king whispered.

All night the king could not sleep. He worried about his faithful friend.

Chapter 4: Morning Light

At sunrise the king hurried to the place. "Daniel, did your God save you?" he called out.

"Yes," said Daniel gently. "God sent help, and the lions did not hurt me." He was calm, and he was thankful.

The king was amazed, and he told the whole city about Daniel's God. Daniel had stayed faithful in a small, quiet way. Sometimes courage looks like simply doing the right thing again.
