The Boy Who Wanted More

On a green hill above the river lived a farmer and his two sons. The younger son, whose name was Aran, dreamed of faraway cities. He was tired of the quiet fields and the same old chores. He wanted adventure, and he wanted it right away. One morning he asked his father for his share of the family's money. His father looked at him with sad, kind eyes and said yes. That evening Aran packed a bag and counted his shining coins.

Far From Home

The city was loud, bright, and full of strangers. Aran bought fine clothes and threw big parties for his new friends. Music played late into the night, and gold slipped through his fingers. He ate rich food and never once thought about tomorrow. For a while he felt like the happiest boy in the world. But his bag of coins grew thinner every single day.

When Everything Was Gone

One day Aran reached into his bag and found it empty. His fancy friends laughed and walked away without looking back. A hard winter came, and food became costly and scarce. To survive, he took a job feeding pigs on a muddy farm. He was so hungry that even the pigs' scraps looked good. He sat alone in the cold and thought about all he had lost. Then he remembered his father's warm house and the kind servants there.

The Long Road Back

Aran decided to go home, even though he felt deeply ashamed. He practiced the words he would say to his father. "I have done wrong," he whispered, "and I am not worthy." He was sure his father would treat him like a hired worker. The road was long, and his feet grew sore and dusty. With every step, his heart pounded between hope and fear.

A Feast Under the Stars

While Aran was still far away, his father saw him coming. The old man ran down the road and wrapped him in a hug. Before Aran could finish his practiced speech, his father was weeping with joy. "My son was lost, but now he is found!" he cried. That night they held a feast with music, bread, and laughter. This story is inspired by the parable of the prodigal son, Luke 15. It reminds us that love waits patiently, ready to welcome us home.
