The Little Tug

Toot was a small tugboat. He lived in a busy harbor. He was slow, and he was little. Big ships sailed past him every day. The tall ships were fast and very strong. Toot felt too small to help anyone. "I am just a little boat," he said. The big ships did not even see him.

The Stuck Ship

One day a huge ship got stuck. It sat deep in the harbor mud. It could not move at all. The big ships pushed it hard. But the stuck ship did not move. "Let me try to help," said Toot. He went right up to its side. He gave one slow and steady push. Slowly, the big ship began to move. It slipped free and slid to the sea. The big ship blew a big, happy horn. All the boats cheered for little Toot. Now Toot knew that he mattered too.
