Every storyteller who invents a world assumes a quiet obligation that few readers ever pause to consider. When a writer arranges characters, motives, and consequences, they are proposing a miniature model of how existence might work. That model, however fantastical its surface may appear, silently instructs its audience about what deserves admiration and what merits contempt. A tale that rewards cruelty with triumph still teaches something, even when it loudly claims to teach nothing at all. Because narrative shapes the imagination long before reason can object, the responsibility attached to invention is neither trivial nor optional. The writer decides which lives matter within the story, and readers absorb that hierarchy without noticing they have accepted it. Such influence is not a flaw to be eliminated but a power to be handled with deliberate care.
